I am looking for a Tiller Girl of the 1960's who I knew then as Rita England and I have noticed you have a Rita Stubs mentioned on one of your pages on your website. I am just wondering if this could be Rita England who if my family tree brain is working, her mother is called Gladys. Gladys married a Ron Darley who is related to me, if I am right and this letter reaches her then perhaps someone can email me to let me know. I used to watch Sunday night at the London Palladium every Sunday in the 1960's and my father always mentioned her name every time the Tiller Girls came on. Thank you for all your help, I appreciate it, Chris Hawke Our Grandmother's name was
Gladys England. Ron Darley was my Grandmother's cousin, he lived
with my Grandmother and us in London, until my granddad's death in
1971. Then he moved to Cornwall to be with sister Greta. He never
married, and sadly died in Cornwall. my sister is well. I hope this
is some help to you. Can you tell me how Ron is related to you. Hope
this finds you, Thanks Doreen. This is a Picture of my sister Rita England
(back row 2nd from right nick name Ginger) Picture is of the Panto
Red Riding Hood, at Bradford please could you include this photo in
your picture Gallery. Also we are trying to contact a Barbara
Griffin who was also in the Tillers with Rita in the 1950's, Please
could you put a message on you notice board asking Barbara to get in
contact with us, Thanking you regards Doreen. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ref: 1960's Tiller Girls Hi
In the 1960s, I was a dresser at
the Royal Court Liverpool, and made some lovely friends.
I was in touch with Rosalie
Kirkman, Fay Robinson and Jackie Haskow for some years, but unfortunately I
have lost touch. I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me from
those happy times.
Regards
Maureen Alcock

I am trying to find my cousins who were Tiller Girls in the late fifties/early sixties.
Their names are Maureen Hazelton and Trina Rowntree.
Maureen went to South Africa and then to Canada after her marriage.
I would be pleased if anyone with any information would contact me as I
would love to get in touch with them again after all these years.

I have just come across your
website.
I was one of the Tiller Girls in the television show Sunday Night at the London Palladium. It was when Jim Dale became the compare so it would be around 1973. I was with the television show for the full run. We had a wonderful time and also did other things during the run for example cabaret at Grosvenor House Hotel and the Dorchester. I was also in the Black and White Minstrel show as a Television Topper doing both the stage show in London and the BBC series. It is only when I look back that I can appreciate what a wonderful experience it was working with the cream of the profession. I have noticed some names you have listed on your page that I may not know from my Tiller days but that I have worked with in the Minstrels, the two overlap at times. It is great that you have done the website you have done a great job. You now have my e-mail so their may be some of the girls I worked with who may want to get in touch. When I get the time I will send you some photographs I have a few that may be of interest.
All the best,
Kathryn Jones ( some use to
shorten my name to Kathy )

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ref: Ann Calvert My name is Ann Calvert & my mum Joan Suter was a Tiller Girl between about 1943 – 1947. I was a Tiller between 1967 – 1969. If anyone remembers my mum or myself please contact me, we would love to hear from you. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ref: Emily Drake. I hope that one of the ex-Tiller Girls from the 1960’s may be able to help Dawn solve a mystery about one of her relatives. Dawn thinks her relative was called Emily Drake and was born in 1885. Evidently Emily became a dancer and moved to America where it is thought she danced with the Blue Bell Girls and possibly the Tiller Girls. Emily came back to the UK for a time between 1965 and 1972 and made the newspapers while she was here by taking to the stage with Tiller Girls at a Palladium show while in her 70,s. Dawn did have a copy of the Newspaper cutting but it has been lost, she would be grateful to hear from anyone who can remember this event. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was very excited to find your web site as I am an "old" Tiller girl from the 60/70's looking for friends. I joined the Tillers in 1968, my first show being with Frankie Vaughan at the Glasgow Empire. After numerous other summer/winter seasons we were split up and half of the troupe went to Paris and" me "with the other half went to South Africa with Mike & Bernie Winters being the top act. I stayed in SA and got married and have recently returned to UK to live again. I would dearly love to find some close friends from those days namely - SUE FINCH, ROSEMARY WILTSHIRE & AMBER BUCK. I understand that they are probably married and have different names now.
As I was reading your web site I came across
the name Faye Robinson who was my head girl
when I was with the troupe. Also Eileen Lindsay
was in some of the shows that I performed in. Sorry for the long e-mail
but hope you can help me. Sue was from Nottingham area, Rosie from
Stroud and Amber from Portsmouth. kind regards Sandra Willis (Nee
Howarth)
